Hinj Laptop Stand

With the increase in working from home brought about with the spread of Covid-19, Hinj was designed to keep a desk tidy and make the transition between spaces easier. This counterbalance laptop stand serves to regulate airflow to the laptop, manage cables, and store any additional items that are otherwise creating clutter.

Research

For the research aspect of this project I decided to interview three people that each work between two or more locations, and figure out the the main organizational problems that they face.

Sketches

I then landed on the idea of a laptop stand that can also organize cables. This could give the benefit of more desk space, cable management, accessory storage, and better airflow for the laptop. I ended up choosing the sketch on the right for its ability to provide all of these benefits in its counterbalance design.

Models

My next step was creating scale models of different counterbalance designs to see which would work the best aesthetically and functionally.

Storyboard

This was made to show the main steps the user goes through to set up the laptop stand.

Renders

This first render was done to show the main components of the final design.

In Context / Branding

This is what the product would look like in use, along with the branding to go with it.
